Definition

Aquascape is the artistic layout of rockwork, substrate, and plants/coral in an aquarium.

Practical use

Reef styles: minimalist island, terraced shelf, cascading spire. Planted styles: Iwagumi (rocks only), Dutch (dense plant variety), Nature Aquarium (Takashi Amano). Plan adult coral/plant size into the aquascape - leave 6-12 inches of growth room around each piece.
