Why opt in - the vendor side of the math
More volume rolls through your store. Customers who pick the 120% store credit option (most of them, by design) come back and shop your listings to use it. That is repeat orders you would not otherwise have - and revenue that frees up cash to bring in new inventory faster.
Higher average cart size. The credit-stacking pattern (combine credit + new livestock + free-shipping threshold) means Living Guarantee customers consistently spend more per order than non-protected customers.
Lower per-unit dead-stock risk. Faster turnover means less time aging in your system, less mortality on your end, and a healthier-looking inventory rotation on every Trust Score reporting cycle.
The badge is a signal. Buyers compare vendors. The Living Guarantee Member badge tells them you stand behind your livestock past arrival - which moves browsers into buyers.
You do not pay cash refunds. Cash refunds come from the Living Guarantee premium pool. Your only exposure is the cost-basis payout reduction when a customer takes store credit, or a replacement at cost from your own inventory.
What you agree to as a Living Guarantee Member
When a Living Guarantee claim is approved on one of your orders, provide a replacement specimen at cost (no margin) when the species is in your inventory.
If the customer takes store credit instead, you accept a payout reduction equal to the wholesale cost of the lost specimen. Fast Aquatics covers the difference.
Cash refunds are never paid by you - they come out of the Living Guarantee premium pool.
Set your free-shipping threshold below so customers can stack credit + new livestock and hit free shipping. Optional but strongly recommended.
You can opt out at any time. Existing policies on past orders remain in effect until they expire.
Set the cart subtotal at which orders from your store ship free. Surfaced on your listing pages and on every Living Guarantee resolution screen so customers know exactly how much to add to hit it. Leave blank if you do not want to offer a free-shipping tier.
Sales tax (optional)
Fast Aquatics does not collect or remit sales tax on your behalf. If you have a sales-tax permit and want to collect at point-of-sale through Fast Aquatics, set your combined rate below. Tax flows through to your payout - it is your money to remit to the state. Leave at 0 if you collect tax outside Fast Aquatics or have no nexus to collect at all.
You take ownership of the rate you enter. Misconfigured rates create compliance risk on your side, not Fast Aquatics's. Most small breeders should leave this at 0 and handle tax at year-end.
